Youtube is coming to Quest's Horizon Home with social features next week
Better late than never: The YouTube experience finally comes to Horizon Home with Google's support.
YouTube is one of the most popular Quest apps, and from next week a cowatching feature will be coming to Horizon Home. This means you can invite friends to your Horizon Home to watch YouTube together. Previously, Horizon Home only offered cowatching of Meta Quest TV content. The news was announced at Meta Connect on Wednesday.
YouTube cowatching comes almost exactly two years after Meta first announced the feature and will go into beta next week. The standalone YouTube app, recently renamed from YouTube VR to just YouTube, doesn't offer cowatching.
New Amazon Prime app
Speaking of streaming services, a new app for Amazon Prime was released on Wednesday that supports downloads so that said content can be watched offline. Other features of the app include passthrough in 2D panel mode and 1080p playback. And thanks to the newly announced Dolby Atmos support by Horizon OS, movies and shows will soon sound even more immersive.
Netflix support was also improved earlier this summer and now supports 1080p playback in the browser. We've previously tried the new Netflix experience on Quest.
