Photos and videos captured with Meta Quest were previously only available on your headset or smartphone. You can access them now on the web.

This useful new feature was introduced with update v68 at the end of July, but was rolled back by Meta shortly thereafter, possibly due to a bug. Now it is back online.

All you have to do is follow the link to the web gallery and log in to your Meta account. Your photos and videos should then appear in the overview. It should look like the following picture.

What are the benefits of the new feature?

The web Gallery comes in handy when you want to access photos and videos from a stationary computer or laptop and edit or share them locally. Previously, you had to transfer them via cable to your computer or download them to your smartphone using the Meta Horizon app and send them from there to your computer.

Recorded content is uploaded to Meta's cloud (if enabled) and quickly appears in the web gallery where it can be downloaded in full quality. However, there appears to be a data limit for videos, which also applies to the Meta Horizon app.

Downloading screenshots may be especially worthwhile for Meta Quest 3, as the screenshots are now taken at a much higher resolution (2,160 x 2,160 pixels instead of 1,440 x 1,440 pixels) since update v68.

In Meta Quest, make sure you have the Sync option enabled in Settings -> System -> Camera -> General.

How to ensure fast synchronization

More details about this feature can be found on the official support page. It notes:

"For photos and videos to sync from your headset, your headset needs to be on and idle. The sync will fail if you open another app, if your headset disconnects from Wi-Fi or if your headset turns off.

Larger files can take longer to sync. Videos taken from your headset that are over a minute long need to be individually synced."
