In the unusual rhythm game Symphoni, you conduct and perform magic to classical music. The mixed reality title is coming next month to Quest.
Studio Techtoy describes Symphoni as follows
"Welcome to Symphoni, where you can be a grand musical wizard who breathes new life into classical music. Unlike traditional rhythm games, Symphoni lets you conduct, cast spells, and transform reality while grooving to the classics.
With 16 tracks at launch and three difficulty levels, Symphoni offers a fresh take on classical music, inviting players of all skill levels to experience timeless masterpieces in a way that’s both magical and immersive."
Symphoni can be played with either hand tracking or touch controllers. Conducting takes place in reality as you wave your wand like a baton, conjuring portals into the world that transform your living room into symphonic landscapes.
The music available at launch includes works by Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, and other renowned composers of the past.
As you progress through the game, you will level up your magical abilities, unlock achievement crystals and collect legendary wands. A custom song editor and free song updates are planned for the near future.
Symphoni is coming to the Horizon Store on March 6, 2025.
Symphoni or Maestro?
Symphoni follows in the footsteps of the ingenious conductor simulation Maestro, but focuses on magic and mixed reality instead of a more realistic virtual orchestra experience.
The studio writes on Reddit: "If you would like to try a Disney Fantasia like experience, I'm confident Symphoni is the best choice. But if you want a "real conducting" experience in front of an orchestra, Maestro is your best bet. The studio also cites Symphoni's replayability, handcrafted audio-visuals, and the upcoming ability to create and share your levels as additional strengths.
Techtoy is the same studio that developed the mixed reality rhythm game Meli, which impressed Josef in his hands-on.
From February 21st to 28th, you will be able to try Symphoni for free. More information will be available soon on the game's Discord.
