Quest 3 now offers 4 times the storage for the same price
If you've been wanting to buy a Quest 3 but have been putting it off, there's good news: the headset is now available at a lower price or with significantly more storage for the same price.
Meta Quest 3 was launched a year ago with two storage capacities: 128GB for $500 and 512GB for $650.
At Meta Connect, Meta announced that it is phasing out the 128GB SKU. It will now cost just $430, and only while supplies last. The price of the 512GB version has been reduced to $500. This means that for the same price you get 512GB of storage instead of 128GB.
You also get the VR game Batman: Arkham Shadow, due out on 22 October, for free with your purchase, along with three months of Meta Quest+, Meta's VR game subscription. The offer is valid until April 2025.
The same offer applies to Meta Quest 3S, announced today, a more affordable version of Quest 3 with a starting price of $300.
Buy Quest 3 or Quest 3S?
Quest 3 offers the following advantages over Quest 3S:
- Slightly higher display resolution
- Pancake lenses for significantly sharper optics and wider field of view
- A slimmer form factor
- Stepless IPD adjustment
- A headphone jack
The technical compromises of the Quest 3S are less than the large price difference would suggest. The Quest 3S has the same chipset as the Quest 3 and can render games and apps in the same quality and resolution.
Below you will find a table with the specifications of the Quest 3 and Quest 3S.
Following these price adjustments, Meta now has the following VR headsets and storage models on offer:
- Meta Quest 3S with 128 GB for 300 US dollars
- Meta Quest 3S with 256 GB for 400 US dollars
- Meta Quest 3 with 512 GB for 500 US dollars
