Meta offers additional insurance for Quest 2, Quest Pro
Meta now offers optional accidental damage insurance coverage for the Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro VR headset.
Users in the US can now insure their Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro against accidental damage. Meta offers corresponding protection for the VR headsets via its website and thus offers an option to extend the one-year warranty.
Warranty Plus covers damage caused by falling down
The costs for the insurance amount to just under $55 for the Meta Quest 2 (review) and $160 for the Meta Quest Pro (info). The latter was presented by Meta at this year's Connect and costs $1,499. At that cost, Meta is likely to attract the interest of some customers with additional insurance.
To benefit from the insurance in the event of a claim, take it out within the first sixty days after purchasing the device. The insurance covers the VR headsets and accessories for accidental damage, such as accidental drops or spilled liquids, for up to two years after purchase.
Insurance can also be claimed for refurbished models. The prerequisite is purchase from an authorized dealer. Meta currently charges $55 for insurance coverage on a refurbished Quest 2. The offer applies exclusively to VR headsets purchased in the US.
