Fans work to bring an old Marvel PC VR game back to life
Three years after the end of Marvel Powers United VR, the PC VR game is playable again, but only in single-player mode.
A small team of enthusiasts is working to make Marvel Powers United VR playable again.
The game is designed for cooperative multiplayer skirmishes, but also has a solo mode that can be played again thanks to the work of the fans.
The team also wants to bring back multiplayer, but needs to find ways to emulate servers.
More information can be found on the project's Discord server, which has grown to over 3,000 members in recent weeks.
What is Marvel Powers United VR?
Marvel Powers United VR was released in 2018, exclusively for the PC VR headset Oculus Rift.
It was a cooperative multiplayer VR game in which players take on the role of iconic Marvel superheroes like Spider-Man, Rocket Raccoon, and the Hulk and battle waves of enemies in various Marvel environments.
The VR game featured a first-person perspective that allowed players to immerse themselves in the bodies of superheroes and use their superpowers.
Meta removed the game from the Rift Store in 2021.
Marvel Powers United VR was developed by Sanzaru Games, which later created Asgard's Wrath and Asgard's Wrath 2. Meta acquired the studio in 2020.
