Like RUST in virtual reality: GRIM goes into early access on Meta Quest and Steam
From the makers of Ghosts of Tabor comes GRIM: a hardcore survival game that takes you to Mars. Early Access starts tomorrow.
Beyond Frames, Combat Waffle Studios and solo developer Spoonfed Interactive are releasing the new VR game GRIM in Early Access for Meta Quest and SteamVR on January 16. The price for the Early Access version is $19.99.
In the survival game GRIM, you wake up on a dying Mars, surrounded by the remains of failed colonization attempts. As supplies dwindle and dangers increase, survival becomes a constant struggle. You must gather resources, craft tools and fight against other desperate survivors.
Survival on the red planet
GRIM offers you various features that will make your survival on Mars a real challenge. Here is an overview of the most important gameplay elements:
- Hostile Martian environment with limited oxygen, extreme weather and abandoned outposts
- Dynamic survival mechanics such as hunger and fluid management
- Base building and crafting system with tools, armor and weapons
- PvP and PvE battles against other players and AI opponents
- Free trade or enemy raids on other bases
- Co-op gameplay with the option to build settlements
Early Access to provide valuable feedback
The Early Access Alpha of GRIM is set to be the start of a collaborative development journey. Similar to Ghosts of Tabor, which only really blossomed through player feedback, GRIM will continue to develop based on feedback from the community. Early adopters can share their experiences to help shape the game's mechanics, features and overall direction.
I was already able to play GRIM at Gamescom. The building system is very similar to RUST, but requires some familiarization with the controls in VR. GRIM is the second collaboration between Beyond Frames and Combat Waffle after the successful VR shooter Ghosts of Tabor. This recently passed the 20 million dollar sales mark in less than 18 months.
