FACTS

Better Than Life, the developers of Kayak VR: Mirage, have released a free update that adds real-time multiplayer for two players. You can now paddle through the gorgeous VR landscapes in pairs on PC VR via Steam or Playstation VR 2. Previously, there was only a competitive multiplayer mode that pitted you against the shadows of other players.

As the studio notes on Reddit, the mode took over a year to develop. It was a big challenge to implement a VR game where you control a character with a paddle in a physics-based kayak in multiplayer. However, the team believes it was worth the effort, as they had a lot of fun during the testing phase. However, there is no cross-play support for now. This means that you can only go on a kayak tour with players who are playing on the same platform.

If you find any bugs while paddling virtually, the developers are asking for feedback in the #multiplayer channel on the Discord server (see link below the article). If you've ever wanted to try out this graphical showpiece, you should get your hands on it now. Kayak VR: Mirage for PSVR 2 is 30% off on PlayStation Store until September 26th.

CONTEXT

One of the most graphically stunning VR experiences

Just recently, Soča Valley was released as the first paid DLC for Kayak VR: Mirage. The digital recreation of Slovenia's Soča Valley is the largest and most graphically impressive environment in a VR game to date.

At the request of the community, the studio included whitewater sections for the first time. This required the development of a new water system, which posed challenges in terms of physics and graphics. In addition to the challenging whitewater sections, there are also many calm sections where you can enjoy the scenery.

The update also introduced inverse kinematics for the torso, so the avatar now has a torso, arms, and hands. Ghosts in race mode now have arms as well. It also fixes some bugs and improves the graphics.

Tomislav tried the Soča Valley DLC on Playstation VR 2 for you and was impressed by the lifelike recreation of the Slovenian valley.
