FACTS

VR arcade operator Sandbox VR has launched a summer campaign with actor Danny Trejo. Players are invited to train their "Zombod" in Sandbox VR stores worldwide to prepare for the upcoming VR zombie apocalypse.

Trejo is an action and B-movie icon, known for films such as From Dusk Till Dawn, Machete and The Expendables. In the Sandbox VR commercial, he is seen in a post-apocalyptic setting preparing to fight a zombie invasion.

There will be exclusive Danny Trejo posters, "Get your Zombod Ready" stickers, videos, and promotions in Sandbox stores. Participants will receive up to 20% off Deadwood games and free weapon upgrades. Top Deadwood Valley players will receive prizes such as a golden zombie ear trophy and Zombod training certificates. CONTEXT

Sandbox VR on the rise again

Sandbox VR offers a stationary VR experience with full-body tracking and haptic feedback. Up to six players can interact simultaneously in exclusive games such as the zombie shooter Deadwood Valley. With extensive equipment such as backpack PCs, haptic vests and VR headsets, their movements are transferred precisely into the virtual world.

The pandemic was a major challenge for Sandbox VR, which had to temporarily close all of its locations. However, the company seems to have recovered. Sandbox VR is expanding rapidly and operates 49 locations worldwide, attracting more than 100,000 players each month, according to the company. MIXED has already tested the first German location in Alsfeld.
