First-person VR pinball Bounce Arcade launched on Meta Quest
Velan Studios launched Bounce Arcade, an innovative VR pinball game that combines classic arcade feel with modern virtual reality.
In Bounce Arcade, you are transported into three-dimensional table arenas and play from a first-person perspective with flipper paddles instead of hands.
The thematically diverse arenas combine classic pinball mechanics such as rails and bumpers with level-specific game elements. The goal is to survive, unlock mini-games, and achieve high scores.
In addition to the hand paddles, you can also use a guide mode to precisely steer the ball, as well as an attract function that magnetically attracts the ball.
The game includes the following levels at launch:
- Gunpowder Gulch: A Wild West environment where players carry out a bank robbery and must hold their own in shootouts with lawmen.
- Asteroid Outpost: A space mine where the valuable mineral Arcadium is harvested.
- Monster Manor: A haunted house full of supernatural surprises and restless ghosts.
- Pirate's Plunder: A pirate adventure with cannon battles and skeleton opponents.
More than classic pinball
The gameplay of Bounce Arcade goes beyond traditional pinball: Each arena offers its own challenges and game mechanics. In Gunpowder Gulch, for example, the paddles transform into pistols, while in Asteroid Outpost, spaceship repairs and multiball chaos await players.
The difficulty increases through multiball phases, in which multiple balls are in play simultaneously. Players must then demonstrate their skill and cleverly combine the various control options to achieve high scores.
Bounce Arcade was released on November 21 for Meta Quest 3, 3S and Quest 3 at a price of just under $20.
