Behemoth: Biggest patch yet improves combat and enhances Quest visuals
Behemoth's largest patch to date fixes numerous bugs, makes the combat more forgiving, and brings graphical optimizations to Meta Quest.
This is not the first patch for Behemoth, but it is the most extensive yet. The changes are so numerous that Skydance has summarized them in a multi-page PDF document.
If you have not yet completed the VR game, you should not read the patch notes as they contain spoilers. Don't worry: this article is spoiler-free.
The biggest changes are to the combat. Skydance Games writes:
"Combat has been controversial. Plenty of people love it as designed, so we’re not going to radically change it. But we also heard reports from players who were frustrated by things like stamina drain, parrying challenges, and narrow windows for dodging attacks. Armed with your feedback and our own notes on things we’d like to adjust and improve, we’ve fine-tuned our systems to make stamina, parrying, and dodging more forgiving. We think this new combat tuning will enhance the experience for all players, helping you live out your wildest warrior dreams."
For those who want an even deeper discount on combat stamina loss, there is a new Freestyle mode. This will reduce your stamina consumption to a minimum, allowing you to swing your weapons until you physically run out of breath. This mode is still in beta.
Skydance has also fixed some progress blockers, refined the mini-bosses, made updates to the levels, and much more.
Numerous improvements for Meta Quest
The Quest version of the game benefits from over 1000 changes and improvements that enhance the graphics, audio, gameplay, and overall experience. Among other things, Skydance fixed issues and jank that could occur in the Behemoth boss battles.
Quest 3 players can now enjoy improved environment and foliage textures. Skydance has also improved the resolution of materials on various surfaces as well as the lighting and reduced the occurrence of visual popping issues in the environment. These improvements apply to all Quest versions of the game.
Playstation VR 2 users will be happy to know that the blood is now red instead of black, a bug that was introduced with the first PSVR 2 patch.
Skydance writes that they are far from finished with the game and also list bugs that have not been fixed yet. You can read the full patch notes here.
"We’re listening, we’re committed to supporting this game, and this patch is just the first step toward making Skydance’s Behemoth the ultimate grimdark fantasy action-adventure experience. There’s a lot to look forward to in 2025, including launching Arena Mode 1.0, continued refinements to balance and performance, and maybe even a few surprises…"
