Here's what Asgard's Wrath 2 looks like on Quest 3 with the enhanced graphics update
Asgard's Wrath 2 has finally received its big Quest 3 enhanced graphics update. The visuals have been improved across the board, but there is a catch.
After half a year of development, Sanzaru Games finally released its major visual upgrade for the Quest 3 version of Asgard's Wrath 2.
The amount of improvements is surprising. In addition to higher resolution textures, Sanzaru Games has improved shaders and added more detail to models, as well as specularity on certain surfaces. This explains the long development time of the enhanced graphics update. Below are screenshot comparisons of five regions of the VR game.
Sanzaru Games introduced two graphics options for the Quest 3 version of Asgard's Wrath 2 in December: a 90 Hz mode and the 'Enhanced Rendering Features', which increased the resolution and improved the LOD.
After the latest update, the Enhanced Rendering Features cover much more, and the 90 Hz mode can no longer be enabled at the same time. So you have to decide whether you want to play with better graphics or a higher frame rate.
These options can be toggled on and off under Settings > User Interface. The Quest 2 version runs at 72 Hz only and does not offer any enhanced visuals.
The graphics update is 7.5 GB in size and the game now takes up a total of 33.5 GB, which is only slightly more than before.
The latest update brings other improvements and bug fixes, which you can read about in the release notes on Reddit.
Screenshots show the visual difference
I had a quick look at the graphics update. At first glance, the game benefits the most in interiors or when you get close to objects; in large open areas, the more detailed visuals don't have the same impact.
You can switch between the improved graphics and the higher frame rate in the menus at any time without interrupting the game.
