Asgard's Wrath 2 gets big update, but enhanced textures for Quest 3 are still pending
Sanzaru Games and Oculus Studios have released an extensive update for Asgard's Wrath 2 — however, a Quest 3 optimization is still pending.
The new patch contains numerous small improvements, performance optimizations, new features, and bug fixes. Among other things, the audio sample rate on Quest 3 has been improved, new controller settings have been added, and the difficulty of the Bruiser boss fight has been lowered. According to the developers, occasional progress blockers have also been fixed.
However, due to the complexity of the game, problems may still occur in some cases. You can always report bugs on the official Discord server. Links to the full patch notes for version 1.2.1466588 and the Discord server can be found in the source below.
The size of the update is considerable at 31 GB. This is due to an issue with Unreal's file organization, which has now been fixed. Future updates should be much smaller.
Sanzaru Games has also announced that more updates will be coming soon. These will address frequent requests from the community, such as more save slots, a refinement of the Cosmic Conquests, and most importantly, high-resolution textures for Quest 3.
New Cosmic Event starts today
Sanzaru Games also announced that the new cosmic event "Into the Multiverse" will begin today. "This event features the Uncharted Rifts with challenges around defeating Dread Souls, clearing dungeon floors, and completing Weaver Challenges as you close the rifts in the threads of reality," the developers wrote on Reddit.
Quest 3 optimizations still in the works
Asgard's Wrath 2 was released on December 15, 2023 for Quest 3, Quest 2, and Quest Pro, and is considered one of the most extensive mobile VR games ever. Although the title was included for free with every Quest 3 purchase until January 27, 2024, it has not yet been fully adapted to Meta's current VR headset.
So far, only one patch has been released, which added new graphical options and increased the render resolution by 30 percent. An exclusive high-resolution texture pack for Quest 3 was announced in early January, but was never planned to be not included in the current patch.
