FACTS

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman claims to have learned of a major new update for Apple Vision Pro.

According to Gurman, the visionOS 2.4 update is scheduled for early April 2025 and should bring the following:

  • Apple Intelligence, known from iPhone, iPad and Mac, is coming to Apple Vision Pro. It will include standard features such as the Writing Tools interface (including ChatGPT integration), Genmojis, and the Image Playground image generator. Siri will remain unchanged, Gurman writes.
  • A new app for viewing spatial media, including 3D images and panoramas taken from outside sources.
  • A revamped guest mode that should make it easier to show the device to others and share it in the same household. Improvements include the ability to control the setup process from an iPhone. On the iPhone, you can also choose which apps are accessible to guests.

Developers will soon get access to a beta of the visionOS 2.4 update, according to Gurman.

CONTEXT

On February 2, 2025, Apple Vision Pro celebrated its first birthday, and despite sluggish sales, Apple continues to improve the product with major updates.

The integration of Apple Intelligence will make the device more future-proof, especially against the competition: Google and Samsung are releasing a mixed reality headset this year that bears a striking resemblance to Apple's Vision Pro and is expected to shine with AI capabilities.

A chipset update could make Apple's headset more powerful in this regard. Both Mark Gurman and supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo have reported that Apple is working on a revision of the product with an M5 chip, which could be released in 2025 or 2026. The first and current Apple Vision Pro model uses an M2 chip.
