Apple has announced new Apple TV content for Vision Pro recorded in the Immersive Video format.

Apple has announced the following immersive videos for this year, spanning multiple categories including adventure, documentary, music, short film, sports and travel:

  • Boundless: a new series that invites viewers to experience once-in-a-lifetime journeys. The series premiered July 18 with the episode "Hot Air Balloons".
  • Wild Life: The next episode of the nature documentary series that brings viewers closer to some of the planet's most charismatic creatures premieres in August.
  • Elevated: An aerial travel series that takes viewers from dizzying heights to iconic locations launches in September.

Coming later this year:

  • Submerged: Apple's first immersive short film, written and directed by Academy Award winner Edward Berger (All Quiet on the Western Front).
  • Big-Wave Surfing: The first episode of a new sports series with Red Bull.
  • Special performances with the world's biggest artists, starting with an immersive experience from The Weeknd.
  • A look behind the scenes and on the court at NBA All-Star Weekend 2024.

CONTEXT

What is Apple Immersive Video?

Immersive Video is Apple's name and format for 180-degree stereoscopic 8K video with spatial audio. The videos are available through the Apple TV app.

Apple has already released several immersive videos, including two episodes of Prehistoric Planet Immersive, two episodes of Adventure about extreme sports, an episode of Wild Life and the short documentary Alicia Keys: Rehearsal Room.

Later this year, Apple will enable creators and businesses to shoot their movies in immersive video format with the URSA Cine Immersive camera coming later this year, as well as new versions of DaVinci Resolve Studio and Apple Compressor.
