Significantly bigger than its predecessor
Developer Vertigo Games revealed many gameplay details about Arizona Sunshine 2, the sequel to the popular zombie survival shooter, in a showcase video and AMA-session on Reddit at the end of November. Announced for PC VR, Playstation VR 2, Meta Quest and Pico 4, the VR game follows a protagonist and his faithful sheepdog, Buddy, as they search for Patient Zero in a post-apocalyptic world.
Arizona Sunshine 2's campaign will be two to three times as long as its predecessor, with an estimated eight to twelve hours of gameplay. The game will feature more cinematic moments, massive zombie hordes, and a variety of interactions. It will also be updated after release with free maps for Horde mode.
The arsenal has been heavily revamped with over 40 weapons including melee weapons, explosives, and flamethrowers. All weapons are manually reloaded for a more realistic feel.
Arizona Sunshine 2: Campaign also playable in co-op mode
Arizona Sunshine 2 features a co-op mode for the entire campaign, as well as a horde mode for up to four players. All multiplayer modes support cross-play, allowing players from different platforms to play together.
The game will also be available for mobile VR headsets. The Quest 3 version will be crisper and sharper than the Quest 2 version due to the increased hardware performance. An additional upgrade for Quest 3 is planned before Christmas.
Arizona Sunshine 2 will offer various comfort options to reduce motion sickness and will offer subtitles in multiple languages. The game will be officially released on December 7, 2023 for Meta Quest, Playstation VR 2, Pico 4 and PC VR compatible VR headsets via Steam.
