FACTS

Development studio 3R Games, known for the VR hit Thief Simulator VR: Greenview Street (350,000 copies sold), has announced Besiege VR.

According to 3R Games CEO Piotr Surmacz, Besiege VR will take the gaming experience known from the PC to the next level. The studio promises completely reworked 3D sound, haptic feedback on every impact, and a new VR-optimized user interface.

Players can build medieval siege engines from over 70 different components, from catapults and tanks to giant mechs. In the campaign, players must complete 50 levels by destroying castles, crushing armies and razing villages. Alternatively, players can build freely in three large sandbox environments.

A special feature is the import of PC creations into the VR version. However, due to the hardware limitations of Meta Quest, not all machine sizes and features will be transferable 1:1.

The VR version will cost $20 and offer the full scope of the original game (without expansions).

You can now add Besiege VR to your wishlist in the Horizon Store. Pre-orders will be available soon.

CONTEXT

The PC original is a big hit

Besiege originally launched in Early Access on PC in 2015 and was released in full in 2020. Developed by Spiderling Studios, the game has sold over 4 million copies across all platforms. It has received "overwhelmingly positive" reviews on Steam - 95% of over 44,000 users have rated the game positively.

Stefan Metaxa, Commercial Director at Spiderling Studios, explains that a VR version of Besiege has always been a dream of the studio. Playing in VR allows you to experience the sheer size of the machines from a first-person perspective and experiment with them in a much more interactive way.
