Civilization 7 VR was announced in early February, and now a release date has been set: it will be released exclusively for Meta Quest 3 and 3S on April 10, 2025.

A new gameplay video shows what VR players can expect. The game begins in a virtual museum with the so-called "War Table" - the central board on which players build their empire. This table can be customized and viewed from different perspectives. Players can get a bird's eye view of the map or zoom in to examine the details of their civilization.

A special feature is the interaction with other civilizations. When players encounter AI-controlled or human opponents, their leaders appear at the table. Diplomatic negotiations take place in a separate "diplomacy room".

The game can be switched between virtual reality and mixed reality at any time. In mixed reality mode, the war table is integrated into the real environment and can be placed anywhere in the room.

Another special feature of Civilization 7 VR is the display of important game events: When players reach significant milestones, such as building a Wonder of the World, they are presented as immersive moments. When transitioning to a new era, previous achievements are moved to an "archive room." In this virtual museum, players can review the history of their civilization at any time.
