FACTS

While we've known about the VR version of Wrath since last summer, the recent VR Games Showcase finally revealed concrete release plans. The development team, consisting of Team Beef, Flat2VR Studios, and 3D Realms, is targeting a fall release across Playstation VR 2, SteamVR, and Meta Quest headsets.

FEATURES & TRAILER

VR-optimized weapons and intuitive controls

The VR adaptation of this classic Quake Engine shooter promises to deliver 90s-style combat with modern VR mechanics. The VR port isn't just a simple conversion — it's been extensively reworked for virtual reality gaming. Players step into the role of the "Outlander," a lost soul drifting through time who must hunt down the last fallen Guardians in a corrupted, dying world.

The development team has overhauled several key aspects of the game. The weapons arsenal has been completely redesigned for VR interactions, featuring manual reload mechanics and two-handed weapon handling.

Players can dual-wield weapons and use "razor-sharp twin blades" to precisely dismember opponents. A revamped user interface includes a new 3D journal and compass system to help with navigation, while an improved save system rounds out the quality-of-life improvements.

CONTEXT

Flat2VR's growing portfolio

This VR adaptation of Wrath is just one piece of Flat2VR Studios' ambitious lineup. The studio has already released the quirky rhythm game Trombone Champ: Unflattened, with VR versions of FlatOut and Roboquest still in development.

Looking further ahead, the 2025 VR Games Showcase revealed plans for VR adaptations of several more titles, including the controversial Postal 2, Surviving Mars: Pioneer, Out of Sight, and Shadowgate: The Mines of Mythrok.
