Huge maps, 32-player battles, and jet skis: Newly announced VR shooter Forefront has big plans

VR studio Triangle Factory just announced their most ambitious project yet — a multiplayer VR shooter called Forefront that promises massive 32-player battles across sprawling maps.
Just announced at the VR Games Showcase, Forefront will take players to the year 2035, where a mysterious resource called Red Orpiment has sparked a global conflict. This substance supposedly offers unlimited clean energy, but there's a catch — it's incredibly rare.
The energy corporation O.R.E. controls the extraction technology and has built up its own private military to protect its mining operations. Players can choose to either join O.R.E.'s mercenary forces or fight alongside local armed forces trying to wrestle control of the valuable mineral.
What sets Forefront apart is its scale. The game supports up to 32 players in a single match, fighting across huge maps that you can traverse not just on foot, but with an array of vehicles. Want to zip across water on a jet ski, take to the skies in aircraft, or stick to land vehicles? Forefront's got you covered. The environments are fully destructible too, meaning the battlefield can dramatically change as matches progress.
Forefront: With 32 players on land, air and sea
The developers are promising:
- Massive online battles supporting 32 players
- Large-scale destructible environments
- A diverse vehicle lineup covering land, sea, and air
- New weapon types, gadgets, and character classes
- Deep tactical gameplay with intense gunfights
Triangle Factory plans to release Forefront in late 2025 through Steam for PC VR, plus versions for Pico and all current Quest headsets (including Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, and Quest 2). The game is already available for pre-order across these platforms, with plans to launch in Early Access by year's end.
This isn't Triangle Factory's first rodeo — the Belgian studio has already made its mark with VR shooters like Breachers and Hyper Dash. According to CEO Timothy Vanherberghen and COO Xavier De Coster, Forefront represents their most ambitious project yet, one that will push VR hardware to its limits while maintaining the quality standards they're known for.
