Meta Quest v74 update brings many small improvements

A new update for Meta Quest update is rolling out now. It improves multitasking and makes it easier to set up multi-room spaces.
Meta has skipped a month and a version number with update v74, which is now rolling out to owners of Meta Quest 3, 3S, Quest 2 and Pro.
As always, it may take up to a week or more for the update to reach your device.
Overview of the improvements of v74
The new Horizon OS update does not include any major new features, but rather minor quality of life enhancements that improve the overall user experience.
- Improved multitasking: Minimized 2D apps are now displayed above the universal menu, so you can see which apps are open. Tap them to bring them back into view. In addition to that, Meta writes that seamless multitasking, introduced with v69, is now rolling out gradually for global availability. This feature lets you keep up to three 2D windows open in immersive apps, so you can access information, watch videos, or chat with friends while the immersive app continues to run.
- Favorite websites in the app library: You can now add shortcuts to favorite websites to the app library. This is useful for the Quest-optimized Netflix experience, for example. The shortcut option is available in the browser.
- Improved multi-room space setup: It should now be easier to scan multiple adjacent rooms without interruption. We tried out the multi-room space setup a few months ago.
- Better transitions to immersive apps: The likelihood of looking at a black screen while an immersive app is loading has been reduced.
- Optimized passthrough in night display mode: The night display feature has been updated to improve the consistency of color balance, white point and warmth in passthrough experiences. You can activate the night display in the Quick settings.
- Improved secondary profiles: Secondary profiles can now also use the Meta Horizon app and benefit from the features of the companion app. It is unclear at this time if this is limited to the Quest owner's smartphone, or if other smartphones can be used as well.
- Casting via USB-C cable: It is now possible for Quest 3 headsets to cast directly to external displays with high-resolution and low latency. This can be useful for content creation, livestreaming and demoing purposes. The cable must support Display Port Alt Mode. Meta has also improved the reliability of all casting options. The corresponding option can be found in the Quick settings.
- Improved Meta Quest Link PC app: The app now includes system tray support, giving quick access to device status and quick actions while Meta Quest Link is running in the background.
- Travel detection: Meta Quest can now detect when you are traveling and suggest turning on travel mode.
- Wider support for spatial audio and clearer microphone: Meta enabled spatial audio in 2D calling applications like Whatsapp and the People app. Spatial audio allows audio from select windows to sound like it is coming from the position of the window in your physical space. Meta also introduced an algorithm that provides a better sounding balance between the microphone and game audio in real time. For example, when recording video, the microphone will be heard more clearly. This feature is optional.
- Improved crash reporting: If an app crashes, you now have the option to report the problem.
