Berlin-based XR studio Trotzkind releases the VR game Selina: Mind at Large for Meta Quest on February 20th.
In Selina: Mind at Large plunges you into the memories and fantasies of a young girl. As Selina's helping hand, you must piece together fragments of her story by solving spatial puzzles and exploring magical landscapes. Your goal is to free Selina's world from the witch Aniles.
The studio promises challenging puzzles that will test your spatial awareness. At the same time, you will experience an emotional story that reveals key moments from Selina's past.
Features of the VR game include:
- Engaging Puzzles: Players must use logic and creativity to solve intricate puzzles that rely on manipulating gravity and shifting perspectives.
- Immersive Environments: Every scene is meticulously crafted with mind-bending architecture and gravity-defying designs, drawing inspiration from the artist M.C. Escher to create a unique, surreal experience.
- Emotional Storytelling: Fully motion-captured scenes allow players to experience Selinas emotional journey in a deeply personal way. The narrative, influenced by C. G. Jung’s exploration of the unconscious mind, weaves psychological archetypes into the storyline, creating moments that resonate emotionally and immerse players in Selina’s struggle to overcome her inner shadows.
- Enduring Campaign: Players will enjoy a lengthy adventure in VR, lasting 6–8 hours.
Selina: Mind at Large was developed over a period of four years by an interdisciplinary team of game designers, filmmakers, artists, psychologists, and scientists. The archetypal child character Selina was created based on the concept of C.G. Jung's Shadow Works. The themes of the VR game include loss, mental health, family, friendship, and the power of music.
Selina: Mind at Large will be released on February 20 in the Horizon Store for all Quest headsets, where you can already add it to your wishlist.
