Xreal One gets 120 Hz support with major firmware update

Xreal has rolled out a new firmware update for its Xreal One glasses, bringing several improvements and new features to the 3DoF device.

FACTS

The update gives users more control over screen positioning — in Anchor Mode, Follow Mode, and Ultra-Wide Mode, you can now place the virtual screen anywhere between 2 and 10 meters away. For closer viewing distances between 2 and 4 meters, the screen appears larger.

The glasses now support 120 Hz refresh rates when connected to compatible devices. This smoother refresh rate works with Anchor Mode, Follow Mode, and modes without anti-shake features.

Xreal has also improved the glasses' power management during demanding tasks, which means the thermal protection kicks in less frequently. The company says they've expanded device compatibility, though they haven't specified which new devices are supported.

Text optimization and improved compatibility

The update also brings several quality-of-life changes. For users working with text, the update adds new text display settings. You'll find a "text optimization" option in the display menu, letting you choose between sharper or softer text rendering to improve readability of text and code.

When you turn on transparency mode, you'll now see a confirmation message so you don't think the screen turned off by accident. The OSD menu automatically hides itself after switching to ultra-wide or 3D mode.

The update also fixes some known issues, including screen balance problems in hover mode, along with various minor optimizations.

Users can install the latest firmware (20250113) by connecting their Xreal One or One Pro to a Windows PC or a Mac. You can find the complete list of changes here.

CONTEXT

Xreal One: Native 3-DoF tracking and larger field of view

Xreal's latest One series, announced late last year, introduces some significant improvements over previous models. At its core, the new X1 chip enables native 3-DoF tracking with any connected device — whether you're using a smartphone, laptop, handheld, or game console — without needing the Xreal Beam. The company says the chip delivers impressive response times, with latency as low as 3 milliseconds.

The display technology has also gotten an upgrade. The Xreal One features dual Sony OLED microdisplays, each running at 1,920 × 1,080 pixels. Users will notice a wider view of their content, too, with the field of view expanding to 50 degrees — up from 46 degrees in the Xreal Air 2 model.
