Exit Condition One: VR escape room in sci-fi setting coming to Meta Quest and Steam
The VR escape room Exit Condition One is being released for Meta Quest and Steam in January and promises tricky sci-fi puzzles.
Ever wanted to solve puzzles in a futuristic facility while in virtual reality? Exit Condition One puts you in the role of a curator who wakes up in a cryogenic storage facility. Your mission: outsmart a malfunctioning security system and fix a broken portal. The game spans five detailed levels where you'll craft tools, pilot drones, rewire circuits, and yes — even dance your way through challenges.
Developer Damon Poole designed Exit Condition One from scratch to take full advantage of room-scale VR, adapting the environment to fit your physical space. Players can explore by walking and climbing naturally, while features like streetcars and ladders help you reach every corner of the game world. For those with different setups, the game also includes traditional movement options.
Room-scale and physics-based interaction
The VR puzzle adventure Exit Condition One will be released on January 23, 2025, for Meta Quest and PC-VR via SteamVR at a price of $14.99. These features await you:
- Room-filling VR: The game adapts to rooms from 2x3 meters and allows natural locomotion through walking and climbing
- Diverse puzzles: From circuits to drone control to rhythm sequences, the game offers a variety of challenges
- Physics integration: Almost all objects are interactive, hands remain visible at all times
- Mini-games: Additional modes such as rhythm dance, shooting and climbing expand on the main game
- Achievements and collectibles: A new achievement system and collectibles reward exploration
From hobby project to full-fledged game
What started as a single VR escape room created by Damon Poole during lockdown has grown into something much bigger. Early access players on the Meta Quest Store have given the game an impressive 4.8-star rating. When it launches, the game will be available in English and Chinese, with more language options planned for the future.
