FACTS

With Alcove Sanctuary, you can now access a new AI-supported virtual companion. It is designed to make VR more accessible, especially for senior citizens. Nova, as the AI assistant is called, understands natural language, making it much easier to control VR applications — even without a controller or complex menus.

The virtual companion guides you on digital tours through the world, creates art for the walls of your virtual home on request or generates 3D models for the room. Nova gets to know your interests and adapts to them individually. Particularly practical: the AI assistant recognizes emotional moments and saves significant memories in a shared "memory box" for the whole family.

For $12.99 a month, in addition to the AI assistant, you also get access to RendeverLive with over 40 hours of weekly guided tours. A companion app for smartphones and tablets is also included in the subscription package.

CONTEXT

From senior care to a family product

Rendever has already made a name for itself in retirement homes and hospitals. There, VR technology helps to combat depression and loneliness through shared virtual experiences. Large retirement home operators such as Revera and Benchmark as well as healthcare systems such as the Cleveland Clinic are already using the technology.

Alcove originally launched as a free virtual home for the Oculus Go. Even back then, the app offered a modern, virtual building with four different areas. You could choose between an entertainment zone, a family area with photo walls, a room for virtual travel and a relaxation zone with a landscape view for meditation. With Alcove Sanctuary and the AI assistant Nova, this concept is now evolving significantly.
