Cold VR for Meta Quest & PC-VR announced: Time is your enemy in this VR shooter
Time manipulation meets hard-hitting action: from January, you can only survive in the shooter Cold VR if you keep moving.
The VR shooter Cold VR by Allware LLC will be released on January 21, 2025, for Meta Quest and PC VR at a price of $19.99. A version for Playstation VR 2 will follow later in the year.
Cold VR is based on a unique game principle: unlike its spiritual role model Superhot VR, time only stands still when you move. As soon as you pause, time continues to run and the AI opponents become more active. In our detailed hands-on, we have already experienced how challenging and chaotic this game principle feels.
In Cold VR, you combine live action elements with classic gameplay and fight your way through various environments such as pirate ships or the familiar backrooms. You use melee weapons such as katanas as well as firearms.
Time manipulation and varied levels
Cold VR stands out from classic VR shooters thanks to its innovative gameplay. The game not only challenges you with quick reflexes and precise aiming, but also requires strategic thinking when manipulating time
The developers have intelligently interwoven various game elements to create a thrilling VR experience:
- Time manipulation at its core: You control the flow of time through your movements. Only those who keep moving will survive.
- Varied combat scenarios: You fight on pirate ships and in surreal backroom levels.
- Diverse arsenal of weapons: You can use melee weapons such as katanas and long-range weapons such as revolvers.
- Gripping story: The story develops through a mixture of live action and gameplay.
- Dynamic environments: You overcome lasers, moving platforms and other obstacles.
