New VR extraction shooter for Meta Quest: In Anomaly's apocalyptic city you fight for bare survival
Anomaly is a new VR extraction shooter from Swarm developers Greensky Games that sends you into intense PvPvE battles.
The developer studio Greensky Games, known for Swarm and Swarm 2, has released its new VR shooter Anomaly in Early Access for Meta Quest. The title costs 9$ and combines PvP and PvE elements in an extraction shooter format.
Anomaly is set in the year 2050 and puts you in the role of recruits of the Conway Group, a mysterious organization. In an abandoned city spanning three different levels, you must battle rival squads and monsters while searching for a rare artifact. Once you have the artifact in your hands, you will become the target of all other players.
You can play the game solo or in a squad with up to three friends. The classic extraction shooter rules apply: Eliminate rivals, fight against AI opponents, collect equipment and escape alive. If you die, you lose all your equipment. You can choose between short, low-risk missions or longer, more dangerous missions with better loot.
Don't miss out: in the MIXED Advent Calendar, you can win VR games or VR accessories every day.
Extensive customization options and tactical depth
Anomaly deliberately dispenses with complex simulation elements and instead focuses on intense gameplay. The game offers a dynamic combat system with VR-specific mechanics such as zip lines and gravity grenades. Various mission types and intense firefights await you in the changing game world, which should make every run a unique experience.
Anomaly offers these features:
- Deep customization options: Weapons can be modified with sights, grips and stocks. You can personalize loadouts and choose perks to optimize your playstyle.
- Tactical equipment: Special tools such as gravity grenades and deployable cover allow for strategic combat and diverse tactics.
- Dynamic mission design: The game world offers different contract types and difficulty levels. You decide whether to extract quickly with small loot or stay longer for more valuable rewards.
- Progression system: Successful extractions allow you to buy better equipment and increase your chances of survival.
- VR-typical interactions: The game utilizes the possibilities of virtual reality with physics-based weapon handling, manual reloading and intuitive inventory management.
