Sony's latest PSVR 2 trailer teases some of the most anticipated VR games
Sony is promoting Playstation VR 2 with a new trailer showcasing current and upcoming VR games.
The Playstation VR 2 is currently on sale for $350. As part of this discount, Sony has released a new commercial, highlighting some of the games that players can play now and what they can expect in the coming weeks and months.
A shooter, WW2 flight sim and action RPG
One big title released recently is Metro Awakening, a full Metro game designed from the ground up for virtual reality, which we reviewed. Other titles already available include the co-op action RPG Legendary Tales and the first-person shooter Vendetta Forever.
Upcoming VR games include the flight simulation Aces of Thunder, which was recently delayed until next year. The VR game features dogfights with legendary World War II aircraft and physically accurate flight and damage models based on War Thunder. Battles are fought from an immersive cockpit perspective.
Behemoth is one of the most anticipated VR games of the year. In it, you take on the role of Wren, a hunter who roams the cursed wastelands to hunt down giant creatures, the eponymous Behemoths, and break the curse that has fallen upon her village. The game is being developed by the creators of The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and, like that game, features physics-based melee combat. Behemoth is scheduled for release on December 5, 2024.
Time travel, clay creatures and more
The trailer also showcases Hitman: World of Assassination, a VR conversion, which adapts all three parts of the trilogy exclusively for Playstation VR 2 and adds new game mechanics and immersive object interactions. Hitman: World of Assassination has also been delayed and is now scheduled for release on March 27, 2024.
The Midnight Walk is an extraordinary dark fantasy adventure where every element was hand modeled in clay and then scanned in 3D for the game. You take on the role of a mysterious being who embarks on a perilous journey alongside a lantern creature.
In the time travel game Wanderer: Fragments of Fate, you travel from era to era with the help of a magical clock to steer humanity's destiny in the right direction at crucial historical moments. You will find yourself in the bodies of contemporaries and take on different identities. The VR game is coming to PSVR 2 in 2025.
Obviously missing from the trailer is Alien: Rogue Incursion, the first Alien game built from the ground up for virtual reality. Playing as soldier Zula Hendricks, you travel to LV-354 to find out what happened to your friend and former teammate Ben Carver. It turns out that the research station on the planet has been overrun by Xenomorphs.
