The Light Brigade receives extensive 4.0 update "Phantom of Time"
The VR roguelike The Light Brigade is getting new content with the 4.0 update "Phantom of Time", including an additional class, a new ability, and a new map.
Developer Funktronic Labs has released the 4.0 update "Phantom of Time" for its VR roguelike The Light Brigade. It is now available for PSVR 2, Steam and Meta Quest.
New features include the Saboteur class, a gunslinger with the new "Timepiece" ability. This allows you to disguise yourself, create a double of yourself to evade enemies, tactically reposition yourself, or outwit opponents.
There is also a new procedurally generated map, Memorial Grounds, which depicts a military crypt destroyed by war. Once a burial ground for honored soldiers, the place has been overrun by the chaos of war. Now it's time to uncover the secrets hidden within the ruins.
The update also includes numerous balance improvements and bug fixes.
The Light Brigade: Continuous improvements since release
The Light Brigade puts you in the role of humanity's last line of defense. The VR game features realistic, physics-based gunplay inspired by World War I weapons. You start your runs with a standard rifle and can pick up powerful attachments along the way. Magical abilities allow you to boost your bullets with light magic, unleash a rain of fire on hordes of enemies, and more.
The Light Brigade was released on February 22nd, 2023, and since then, Funktronic Labs has been constantly working on improvements and bug fixes. The first major content update, Memories of War, was released on August 31st, 2023. It introduced the Engineer, a new class capable of controlling drones, as well as the Shotgunner that fans had been asking for.
For the one year anniversary on April 18th, 2024, Funktronic Labs released the "Shadow Hunter" update with the new archer class Hunter, equipped with stealth abilities, a recurve bow and throwing knives. The new mysterious procedurally generated world of Sunless Keep, a wealth of new content such as innovative tarot cards, and balance tweaks were also added.
