bHaptics is expanding its VR product range with three new haptic devices for virtual reality. The company today unveiled the TactSuit Pro for 499 dollars, the TactSuit Air for 249 dollars and a new version of the TactSleeve for 199 dollars. All three products are designed to increase immersion in VR games through improved haptic feedback.

The most important features of the new products at a glance:

TactSuit Pro (499 dollars):

  • 32 haptic motors for maximum feedback
  • New controller wheel for real-time intensity adjustment
  • Ring LED as status indicator
  • Adjustable straps for all body types

TactSuit Air (249 dollars):

  • 16 haptic motors
  • Sleek, lightweight design
  • Available in Onyx and Ash
  • Entry-level price

New TactSleeve (199 dollars):

  • 3 motors per arm
  • 40% lighter than previous model
  • Optimized for powerful feedback

New features for more precise control

The highlight of the TactSuit Pro is the new controller wheel, which allows you to directly adjust the intensity of the vibrations while playing. A ring LED indicates the status of the vest. The adjustable straps ensure a stable fit for different body types. With 32 motors, the Pro version offers twice as many vibration points as the previous X16 model.

The TactSuit Air is aimed at beginners and, with its slim design and lower price, is aimed at VR users who are looking for an affordable introduction to haptic feedback. With 16 motors, it is technically the same as its predecessor, the X16, but costs 170 dollars less.

Improved integration and compatibility

The new models are compatible with all common VR headsets and already support over 270 games. The audio-to-haptics function has been revised and should now also provide better feedback in games without native support. This function was one of the biggest criticisms of the previous model.

Central control is still via the bHaptics Player app. Here you can install firmware updates, view supported games and — with the Pro version — fine-tune the intensity of the vibrations. The previous software solution for the X16 was considered immature; the new version promises more setting options.

With the new vests, it will probably be the same as with the X16. You can either use your PC with the bHaptics Player app or install it directly on your Quest. In both cases, the catalog of supported games is huge, including titles such as: Breachers, Ghosts of Tabor, Arizona Sunshine 2 or Blade and Sorcery.

Technical details and processing

Like the X16, the new models also rely on breathable, hard-wearing material. The motors are neatly integrated into the vests and are not noticeable during normal use. In the Pro version, 32 motors are distributed over the entire vest, while the Air version, like its predecessor, has eight motors each on the front and back.

The new TactSleeve has been fundamentally redesigned and is now 40 percent lighter. Three motors per arm are designed to provide precise feedback, especially in shooter games or when simulating sword fights.

Since its foundation in 2015, bHaptics has established itself as a leading provider of haptics solutions and is the first partner in the "Made for Meta" program. A Series C financing in January 2024 increased the total investment to 180 million dollars. According to CEO Kiuk Gwak, the company wants to use the new models to meet the growing demand for immersive haptic experiences.
