New story trailer for VR blockbuster Behemoth shows brutal gameplay
The new story trailer for Skydance's Behemoth gives a deeper look into the game's dark world and shows explicit combat scenes. The action-adventure game will be released on December 5th for Meta Quest and PSVR 2.
The new story trailer for Skydance's Behemoth shows just how brutal the upcoming VR action adventure will be. Expect bursting heads, fountains of blood, and bodies cut in half during hand-to-hand combat.
The trailer shows off a variety of combat options: From dual swords, to ranged combat with bows, to special abilities where a single fist strike can cause an opponent's skull to burst. There are also climbing passages, environmental puzzles and dialogues with NPCs.
The story revolves around the main character, Wren, who must save her home from a curse. The "Black Rot" infects the flesh of humans and fills them with a thirst for blood. The only salvation lies in the eponymous Behemoths, although they play a supporting role in the current trailer.
Skydance's Behemoth will be released on December 5, 2024 for Meta Quest 3S, Quest 3 and PlayStation VR 2. A PC VR version via Steam is also planned, although there is no specific release date yet. The price will be $40.
Graphical showcase for Quest 3
After several delays, Behemoth was originally scheduled for release in November, but was pushed back to December. The studio will use the extra development time to put the finishing touches on the game.
A separate gameplay trailer released recently shows the technical differences between the Quest 3 and PSVR 2 versions. Although the Quest 3 version runs on a smartphone chip, it does not seem to be far behind the PSVR 2 version in terms of graphics.
The latter has a higher resolution, more detailed textures and additional post-processing effects. Nevertheless, Behemoth will probably be one of the graphical showpieces of Quest 3.
Developer Skydance Interactive has already made a name for itself with the VR hits The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and its successor Chapter II: Retribution. Like those games, Behemoth features a physics-based combat system that requires skill and quick reactions.
