FACTS

Pixel Works Studios, the developers of Miracle Pool for Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S, have released a free update that adds mini-snooker to the game. According to the announcement, this was the most requested feature from the community.

The new game mode is available in both single player and online multiplayer modes. Pixel Works Studios is also considering implementing a full 6 × 12-foot table (approx. 1.8 m × 3.6 m) in the future, but notes that most players already have limited playing space.

CONTEXT

Realistic mixed reality pool simulation

Miracle Pool is one of the best mixed reality apps for Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S. The game allows you to place a virtual pool table in your own room and offers remarkably realistic game physics.

The flexible handling of the virtual table is particularly well-thought-out: players can adjust its height at any time and reposition it in the room, making it possible to play in smaller rooms. An arcade mode with aiming aid is available for beginners.

In addition to the classic 8-ball, Miracle Pool also offers 9-ball and 10-ball. In single player mode, players can compete against AI opponents and unlock new skins for the table, balls and cue. Online matches against friends or random opponents are also possible.

In my hands-on with Miracle Pool, I summed it up at the time:

"Miracle Pool is a fantastic example of how real mixed reality applications can feel today. From the very first shot, I felt like I was playing real pool. Besides the realism and the numerous game modes, it is the well-thought-out details —  like the adjustable table size and positioning or the arcade mode with aiming aid — that make Miracle Pool one of the best mixed reality apps for Meta Quest 3. Just make sure you don't lean against the table out of sheer immersion!"

Miracle Pool has been available in the Meta Horizon Store since June 20th for 15 Euros.
