These augmented reality swimming goggles will soon be available in Apple Stores
Form's Smart Swim 2 AR glasses will be available in November at select Apple Retail Stores and the Apple Online Store.
Form announced that the Smart Swim 2 will be available at 20 Apple Retail Stores in the United States and Canada and at the Apple Online Store in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom starting November 5. It will retail for $249 and £229.
The Smart Swim 2 features a patented augmented reality display, an integrated heart rate monitor and a digital SwimStraight compass for open water navigation.
A new scripting feature allows users to transfer workouts directly into the Form app by simply pasting, scanning or importing from training platforms, emails, or images. These workouts are then synced to the headset in seconds.
The purchase price includes a free one-month premium subscription. This includes access to thousands of workouts, 45 training plans, HeadCoach technique analysis, TrainingPeaks and TriDot workout imports, and SwimStraight. After the trial period, the premium subscription is $15 / £13 per month or $99 / £84 per year.
Designed by competitive swimmers
The Smart Swim 2 was named "Best Wearable" at the 2024 Sports Technology Awards and is approved for competition by World Triathlon, USA Triathlon, British Triathlon and the Professional Triathlon Organization (PTO).
Form was founded in Vancouver in 2016 by Dan Eisenhardt, who was himself a competitive swimmer for 14 years. Eisenhardt is no newcomer to the sports tech industry: his previous company, Recon Instruments, which developed AR displays for sports activities, was acquired by Intel in 2015.
The company is considered a pioneer in the field of AR swim goggles and launched its first smart swimming goggles in 2019. These featured a miniaturized computer and displayed data such as stopwatch, swimming speed, distance covered, and calories burned directly in the swimmer's field of view.
