The team that brought Quake and Doom to Meta Quest is growing
Team Beef, which has brought many classic games to standalone headsets, has a new member and promises a great 2025.
VR developer Luboš Vonásek joins Team Beef, which was formed in 2019 and previously consisted of Simon "Dr Beef" Brown, Grant "BaggyG" Bagwell and Bummser.
Among other things, Luboš ported the first-person shooter Prey (2006) to Meta Quest, contributed to the VR port of Quake 3 Arena (1999) and developed a Quest and Pico version of the PSP emulator PPSSPP.
The extra resources are said to help deliver more content, such as in-development Patreon versions of RealRTCW v5.0 and Doom 3 DLCs Resurrection of Evil and Lost Mission. Quake 4 is continuing to improve as well and there will be more playable versions before the public release of Q1 2025.
"There may even be more announcements in 2025, which are going to make a lot of people happy," writes Team Beef in the announcement. An official VR port of Wrath: Aeon of Ruin (2024), which is being developed together with Flat2VRStudios, has already been announced.
