New trailer for Batman: Arkham Shadow shows how it is to embody Batman in VR

Meta shows off the first gameplay from Batman: Arkham Shadow and narrows down the release window for the upcoming Quest 3 title.

FACTS

The first gameplay trailer shows how the game mechanics of the Arkham series have been adapted for virtual reality. You can see Batman glide through the air, use the grappling hook, take down enemies in the dark, and use the Detective Vision, all from a first-person perspective.

Meta also narrowed the release window to October 2024 and announced the rest of the voice cast. It was already revealed that Roger Craig Smith would voice Batman.

A potential Quest 3 system seller

Batman: Arkham Shadow is a new and VR-exclusive entry in the Arkham series, developed exclusively for Quest 3 by Meta's VR studio Camouflaj (Iron Man VR) in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC.

The game is designed to push the headset to its limits, with elaborate real-time shadows and highly realistic 3D sound using acoustic ray tracing.
