Meta Quest 3: This mixed reality game turns your living room into a PVP battlefield
In Last Stand, you fight in your own home against players who do the same within their own four walls. The room design becomes a tactical advantage.
British studio Soul Assembly has announced Last Stand, an exciting mixed reality game for online multiplayer battles, which is set to be released this winter. In the 1v1 shooter, you transform your home into strategic fortresses and use the physical layout of the room to gain a tactical advantage.
You move freely around your home, while your opponent does the same in their own rooms. Both environments are seamlessly integrated into the game and players are represented as full-body avatars. You can duck, dodge and dive while relying on your familiar surroundings. Everyday objects such as beds, sofas, bookshelves and tables can be used as cover.
An overview of the features according to the manufacturer:
- Multi-location mixed reality: fight 1-on-1 with full freedom of movement in your home while your opponent does the same in their room. Both environments are seamlessly integrated into the game.
- Room layout is key: Scan your home to use items such as tables, bookshelves and sofas as strategic cover and barricades to improve your tactical advantage.
- Improved movement: Mixed reality full-body tracking ensures your avatar accurately mirrors your real-world movements, including your legs. Every dodge and maneuver in combat becomes a critical component for survival.
- Hollywood shootout at home: Experience lifelike shootouts in mixed reality environments with dynamic destructibility. Walls cave in, windows and doors are barricaded and objects in your home are smashed or shot at.
At the time of writing, it was not yet known on which platforms Last Stand will be released. We assume that it will most likely be released for Meta Quest 3. Soul Assembly could possibly also release it on the upcoming Pico 4 Ultra, which should also feature mixed reality.
