ByteDance and Pico have confirmed that a new Pico 4 VR headset will be released in China next week.
ByteDance and Pico have confirmed August 20 as the launch date for their next VR headset in China. In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the headset is introduced as the "Pico 4 Ultra".
No word yet on when the new Pico 4 Ultra will be released outside of China.

No more Pico 4S
It has been no secret that Pico will soon launch a new headset. Over the past few months, there have been several leaks revealing possible specifications and images of Pico's new VR headset. Pico has also already announced a product launch for August.
The new name, however, is surprising. Until now, it was assumed that the VR headset would be launched as Pico 4S. After all, ByteDance registered a corresponding brand name in March.
An entry at the South Korean certification authority already revealed that the headset supports 6 GHz Wi-Fi, which means either Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. Official renders of the VR headset and its carrying case accessories were also leaked a few days ago.
In terms of price, the Pico 4S could be positioned between the cheaper, yet unannounced Meta Quest 3S and the Quest 3. According to the leaks, it is technically on par with the Quest 3.
