Ember Souls looks like the VR version of a PC classic from the 90s
Parkour, climbing and hand-to-hand combat in a magnificent Persian palace: If you've ever wanted to experience Prince of Persia in VR, Ember Souls could be the game for you.
VirtualAge has unveiled its new VR action game "Ember Souls", whose gameplay elements and setting are strongly reminiscent of the PC classic Prince of Persia and its most popular successor, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. A pinch of Assassin's Creed Nexus VR and even a bit of Asgard's Wrath 2 can also be found in the latest gameplay trailer.
The VR action adventure combines parkour, climbing and environmental puzzles with hack-and-slash elements. You will also be able to manipulate time and elements. In the single-player campaign, you become the last Immortal to defeat the mysterious Shadow Sultan. You will explore a magnificent Persian palace with five different environments, including luxurious baths and serene gardens.
Ember Souls will include the following features:
- An innovative parkour system for acrobatic climbing.
- Melee combat with over 20 weapons against a variety of enemies.
- Environmental puzzles and deadly traps.
- Manipulation of time and energy with magic stones.
- Detailed Persian palace environments
Ember Souls is scheduled for release in late 2024 for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2 and Quest Pro, as well as PC VR via Steam.
New VR game from the creators of Guardians Frontline
VirtualAge was founded in Barcelona in 2017, specializing in the development of VR and AR games. The studio made a name for itself with the StarCraft-Halo mix Guardians Frontline, which combines elements of first-person shooters and real-time strategy games in virtual reality.
Ember Souls has me hooked
With Guardians Frontline, VirtualAge and publisher Fast Travel Games delivered a rock solid VR game with a lot of great ideas. With Ember Souls, the studio is taking on a new genre, which makes me all the more excited. With the Prince of Persia setting, the developers have certainly struck a chord with me, as I recently fell in love with the classic once again after playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. And with Assassin's Creed and Asgard's Wrath 2, they haven't chosen the worst role models. I'm excited!
