VR game based on cult TV show Taskmaster is coming to Meta Quest and PC VR
Taskmaster VR is coming to Meta Quest and SteamVR in June, and you can take on the quirky tasks of the British comedy game show yourself.
Fans of the cult TV show Taskmaster are in for a treat. "Taskmaster VR", a VR adaptation of the British comedy game show, will be released on June 13th for Meta Quest 3, Quest 2, Quest Pro and SteamVR. The VR game puts you in the role of the contestants as they face extraordinary challenges.
You will compete against each other in a series of fun and mind-bending challenges to become the Taskmaster Champion. The tasks are tricky and sometimes require skill. They are designed to have multiple possible solutions for added replay value.
In Creative Mode, you become a Taskmaster Assistant and create your own tasks. With a wide variety of tools and items that can be stacked and used in various ways, the possibilities are endless. The tasks you create can then be set for friends and family in local multiplayer mode.
Taskmaster VR was developed in creative collaboration with Alex Horne, the show's creator and co-star, and presenter Greg Davies, who both voiced the characters. The VR game was developed by UK studio Scallywag Arcade, an offshoot of Draw & Code, in collaboration with production company Avalon.
Other VR games based on shows and movies
In addition to Taskmaster VR, there are now several VR games based on shows and movies. Earlier this year, Stranger Things VR was released, a VR experience based on the popular Netflix series. You take on the role of the villain and experience the events from the perspective of Vecna.
Ghostbusters fans have been getting good VR fare for some time now. At the end of October last year, Ghostbusters VR: Rise of the Ghost Lord was released for Meta Quest 2 and Playstation VR 2. Alone or in co-op, you take on a new threat as a ghost hunter.
The Walking Dead universe has also expanded into virtual reality. The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and its sequel Saints & Sinners 2 are among the most popular VR games of recent years.
