VRIDER is a superbike racing sim coming to Quest & PC-VR in 2024

Vrider is a VR racing simulation with an official license from the FIM Superbike World Championship.

The racing game, developed by Funny Tales, was revealed at GDC 2024.

Vrider lets you climb aboard five official Superbike machines from Ducati, BMW, Kawasaki, Honda and Yamaha, take the role of one of the 23 official riders and accelerate to speeds of over 200 mph on 12 licensed tracks from the SBK World Championship. The tracks have been faithfully recreated for the game.

Vriders offers a multi-level tutorial and a variety of game modes:

  • "Hot Lap" lets you practice, race against the clock, or race against your own "ghost".
  • "Quick Race" pits you against nine AI opponents.
  • "Endurance" challenges you to keep your cumulative time as low as possible over five laps.
  • "Tournament" lets you compete for the world championship on all 12 tracks.
  • In the multiplayer mode "PvP Races" you can compete against friends and players from all over the world.
  • The asynchronous multiplayer mode "Ghost Challenge" lets you race against "ghosts" of other players, whose laps are stored on the leaderboards.

The racing simulation will also feature realistic 3D audio and an innovative gesture control system.

Vrider will be released on Meta Quest in the summer of 2024 and on Steam in the fourth quarter of 2024.

The game is being developed by Funny Tales, a 25-strong studio based in Milan and Imola. The studio employs former staff from Ubisoft, 505 Games, Supermassive Games and NetEase Games. The developers have previously worked on titles such as Rainbow Six, Star Citizen, F1 Racing Championship, MotoGP and Superbike World Championship.

Published by VRAL, a new Miami-based VR studio of gaming, hardware and AI experts, Vrider's technology includes a proprietary VR Racing Engine, AI opponents trained with machine learning, and a tool designed to determine which comfort settings are the best for individual players.
