Walkabout Mini Golf VR sends you to the Arctic headquarters of a Bond villain

The icy madness begins: Walkabout Mini Golf VR announces "Ice Lair" — the frosty sequel to the "Evil Lairs" DLC series.

FACTS

Mighty Coconut announces the second part of the "Evil Lairs" DLC series for Walkabout Mini Golf VR on Quest 3, Quest 2, Quest Pro, PC-VR, Playstation VR 2 and Pico 4. Ice Lair will be released on 7 March at 2 am CST and is the 25th course for the popular VR mini golf game.

As with all previous courses, there will be 18 easy and 18 difficult holes. The obligatory fox hunt based on the course's theme is also a must. As a reward, you will unlock a special putter. Mighty Coconut has also announced that new themed avatars will be available.

New gameplay mechanics and traps

The Ice Lair DLC introduces four new gameplay mechanics to Walkabout Mini Golf VR:

  • Freeze Rays, which turns the golf ball into an ice cube
  • Ice on the green, which frozen and non-frozen balls can slide over
  • The ability to bounce frozen balls over obstacles and barriers
  • Heat pads, which melt frozen balls
  • Additional surfaces that allow a frozen ball to stay in play, to create more trick shots

You will also meet NPCs along the way. The course is full of cute but evil penguins who will interact with you and follow you around. Mighty Coconut also incorporates the Arctic environment, depicting the frozen air, icy water and marine life around the facility. A special highlight is a rideable orca whale.

CONTEXT

Part two of the Evil Lair series

Walkabout Mini Golf VR is regularly updated with new DLCs. Recent releases include Around the World in 80 Days, which sends you to the Eiffel Tower, and Walkabout Mini Golf: Meow Wolf, which is probably the most creative course yet.

The first part of the Evil Lairs series was released in July 2023 and is based on the headquarters of top villains from a certain agent series. The courses feature a variety of obstacles and traps designed to make entry more difficult.
