Apple Vision Pro: Interest in developer labs appears to be limited
The opening of developer labs for the Apple Vision Pro has attracted few attendees, according to a Bloomberg report.
Along with the release of developer tools for the Apple Vision Pro, Apple also announced the opening of physical "Developer Labs" in Cupertino, London, Munich, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. As of last week, developers can try out their applications on the real hardware of the Apple Vision Pro, rather than just in a simulation on the Mac.
They will also receive on-site support from Apple engineers. However, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, few developers have shown interest in the opportunity so far.
Apple Vision Pro: Developer Labs almost without developers?
Participants told him they were surprised at how few people attended. "The event consisted largely of Apple engineers assisting with code troubleshooting", Gurman writes in his Power On newsletter.
He also reports that some developers complained about the lack of sessions on the US East Coast. So there may have been other interested parties outside of Silicon Valley who wanted to test their software on the $3,499 mixed reality headset.
Although no new software or hardware was shown compared to the WWDC unveiling, there were very strict security measures in place to prevent leaks, according to the report.
