Weekly recap: Pico plans two new VR headsets, Splinter Cell VR is so stealthy you'll never see it, and DALL-E prompts are becoming an art form in their own right.

Prompt art is so 2023

Our editor Maximilian Schreiner has had access to DALL-E-2 for some time now. In his DALL-E 2 Prompt Guide, he describes his first steps with the image AI and what else it offers besides auto-generation of high-quality motifs.

In addition, we now know the pricing for DALL-E 2, and considering the potential of DALL-E 2 to disrupt expensive creative processes, OpenAI is setting the price low: 115 image commands cost just $15.

New VR headset from Pico could launch soon

Meta is expected to launch its next XR offensive with Cambria in the fall. The social media competitor Bytedance, which is currently stealing advertising time from Instagram with TikTok, apparently also wants to strike in VR: Pico 4 and Pico 4 Pro are lined up for launch. Will the Chinese company even manage to get to market before Quest Pro?

Splinter Cell VR is the most effective stealth game of all time

Splinter Cell hero Sam Fisher is known for his stealth superpowers, which are (almost) unrivaled in video game history. For Splinter Cell VR, Fisher has apparently put all his talent on the line: After years of hiding, it now comes out that Splinter Cell VR will never appear. So, Fisher remains undiscovered - mission accomplished.

But seriously, for Meta and the VR gaming community, Ubisoft's withdrawal is a major low blow as another major gaming brand pulls out of VR gaming.

There are good reasons for Meta to continue investing in PC VR

Meta Quest 2 as a PC VR headset works better than ever. And it will get even better in the future because Meta needs the PC. One reason is the market launch of Cambria with a focus on productivity.

Boom, Zack, Tack, Clack, Bang

In VR, you can rock out with your whole body. Find out in which games this works especially well in our article about the best music games for Meta Quest 2.

Microsoft invests in the Metaverse with a software-first strategy

With Hololens and Windows VR, Microsoft has long been among the pioneers of the XR hardware industry. But that time is over. Hololens is supposedly on the brink of being discontinued, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella emphasizes that his company is investing in the Metaverse - but primarily in software.
